HAMILTON, NY – Amy Getman went
7-of-7 from the free throw line and led her team with 15 total
points as Niagara defeated Colgate 62-48.
Jessica Kemp chipped in 14 points for the
Purple Eagles, while teammate Becky O’Donohue added 12.
Red Raider sophomore Colleen McCaffrey was just shy of
a double-double as she scored a game-high 18 points and
grabbed nine rebounds. Malissa
Burke managed 11 points and four boards on the night for
Colgate.
Colgate trailed Niagara 31-24 at
halftime. The Red
Raiders went on a 5-0 run to start the second period and tied
the game at 31 with 18 minutes of basketball remaining.
Colgate’s scoring drive was not enough as Niagara
regained the lead at 16:20 and held on for the win.
Although rebounding was fairly even with
Niagara besting Colgate 41-37, shooting percentage played a
key role in the contest.
The Purple Eagles shot an impressive 88 percent at the
free throw line and 47 percent from the floor.
The Red Raiders struggled with their offensive game
connecting on only 30 percent of their field attempts.
Niagara boosts its record to 4-7, while
Colgate continues its losing streak and drops to 2-9.
