• Fees: Fees cover the costs of gear rental, food, and/or transportation.
Fees must be paid at registration and are non-refundable.

CAVING
Itching for a whole new kind of adventure? Unlimited exploration, bright
lights and stylin’ headgear. Come learn about caves – geology, navigation,
and life underground at 52 degrees Fahrenheit year-round! This course
includes a class to prepare and an overnight trip to the best caves in CNY.
No experience needed. $20

MEET OUTDOOR EDDIE
Enjoy spring with a variety of adventurous pursuits. Switch it up each week
with hiking, survival tips, canoeing and indoor rock climbing. Take
advantage of what the Chenango Valley has to offer and gain new skills along
the way. $15

INTRO to ROCKCLIMBING
WARNING! Taking this course may cause you to dream of hand jams, figure 8s,
and edging. If you’re not addicted yet…you will be! Learn the basics of safe
climbing and hone your technique as you finesse your way up the wall! $15

INTERMEDIATE ROCK CLIMBING
Did you already take an Intro rock class and you want to take the next step
in your personal climbing? Then come learn anchor building, rappelling, hone
your movement and much more. You’ll climb and learn at Colgate’s very own
rock wall along with a Saturday trip to fantastic outdoor climbing in Little
Falls an hour away. Prerequisite: Belay Certified @ Colgate Wall $15

INTERMEDIATE WOMEN WHO ROCK
The rock doesn’t care about gender, yet its no secret that rock climbing has
been a male-dominated sport. You’ll learn more about climbing beyond
Colgate’s wall. You’ll get an introduction to toprope anchors, rappelling
and head to Little Falls for a day of outdoor climbing. Women only!
Prerequisite: Belay Cert @ Colgate’s Wall. $20

BACKCOUNTRY BASICS
Learn the essentials of traveling safely in the backcountry in good style.
This class focuses on navigation with a topographic map and compass, as well
as other backcountry basics that will help you get out on your own
backpacking trips safely and confidently. No experience needed. $15

BEGINNER FLY FISHING
Yes, there are fish in Payne Creek! Learn the basics of fly fishing –
casting, river ecology, angler ethics and more. Think like a fish as you
explore local hot spots putting catch & release practices into play. No
experience needed! $30 plus license fee (you pay that when you get the
license, approx. $15).

HIKES IN HAMILTON
Come one come all and explore your beautiful home of the Chenango Valley and
Madison County with a little taste of greater New York. Spend a couple
weekend days in the fresh air, stretch your legs, and learn a little
cultural and land history all while basking in the glories of a central New
York spring. This is bipedal locomotion like you’ve never experienced. $15

CANOEING
There are many different waterways to explore in our wet area and on this
course you’ll check out some of the best. You’ll explore the twists and
turns of narrow, placid rivers and soak in the views from the middle of open
lakes. You’ll learn basic canoe rescues and strokes to keep your boat above
water and moving straight. $15

SURVIVAL
What would you do if you had to survive a cold Hamilton night without the
comforts of 4 walls and a bed? Learn the basics of survival including the
how-tos of fire, shelter, edible plants & water and put your new skills to
practice during an overnight trip sleeping in your own hand-made shelter. No
experience needed! $15

INTRO TO WHITEWATER KAYAKING
Experience the thrill of paddle, boat, and spray skirt in the comfortable
environs of Lineberry Pool. Learn the basics of wet exits and rescues,
paddle strokes, and give the Eskimo roll a whirl or seven. Conditions
allowing, there will be an optional river day at the end of the class. No
experience needed. Swimming ability required. $20

Want to learn the art of sea kayaking? This class begins with a pool session
and then progresses to local lakes. We will cover rescues, paddling

PEAK HIKE
Get out on one long dayhike at a peak in either the Southern Adirondacks or

PADDLE & HIKE
Split your time between land and water! Explore some of the most interesting

BACKPACK OVERNIGHT
This course is a great low-commitment introduction to backcountry living.
Learn the basics of backpacking and camping then put them to practice during
an overnight trip at Stoney Pond state forest – an amazing, nearby escape
from Colgate. No previous experience needed. $20
