Army Men and Bucknell Women
Dominate Patriot League Cross Country Championships for the Second Year in
a Row Hamilton, N.Y. - The United States Military Academy earns the men's team title, while Bucknell takes the women's championship both for the second year in a row at the Patriot League Cross Country Championship at Colgate University. Army repeats it's 2001 victory with senior Will Wyche taking the individual title for the second year in a row. Wyche finished first with a time of 25:08.6 to lead the Black Nights. Army had three more top ten finishers with Clint Tisserand coming in third, Andres Every at eighth and Mike Baskin in 10th. All four of Army's top-ten finishers were awarded All-League recognition. Lehigh's Alex H'eureux earned All-League status with his second place finish at 25:09.3. All-League status was also awarded to American's Frank Malpigli (fourth) and Matt Seymour (sixth), Bucknell's Bryan Johnston (fifth) and Greg Costello (seventh) and Colgate's Xavier de Boissezon (ninth). Senior Becki Marshall earned her third individual title to lead the Bison women to their repeat title win. Marshall finished with a time of 22:40.8. The second and third place finishers were fellow Bison Chris Crowe and Theresa Hull. Kelly McConnell rounded out the Bucknell team with her eighth place finish. The remaining spots on the All-League team were awarded to Army's Angela Petersen (fifth) and Alexis Seefeldyt (ninth), American's Samia Akbar (sixth) and Jen Baclawski (seventh) and Colgate's Jenny McCarthy (tenth). Cross Country Coach of the Year awards, voted on by the Patriot League coaches, were also presented. Men's Coach of the Year went to Army's staff led by head coach Jerry Quiller. Bucknell's staff took the Women's Coach of the Year honors lead by new head coach Kevin Donner. |
