RELEASE HAMILTON, N.Y. – Colgate University men’s track & field member Shawn Lingley (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury High School), has received the Jack Mitchell Memorial Award announced by athletic director Mark Murphy. The John T. (Jack) Mitchell Memorial Award is awarded by the athletic department in memory of Jack Mitchell, a member of the biology faculty from 1975-1996 and an avid supporter of Colgate athletics. The award is given to the graduating student-athlete with the highest grade point average. He is also on two different 4x400 relay teams on Colgate’s top-ten board, ranking in fifth and sixth place. As a member of the Raider indoor distance medley relay team, Lingley qualified for the IC4A Championships and ranks eighth all-time at Colgate. He also contributed to a 4x400 outdoor relay team and a 4x800 outdoor relay team that rank on Colgate’s top-ten board in seventh and tenth place, respectively. In the classroom, Lingley holds a 3.86 grade point average while majoring in history. |
