Personal Bests the
theme for Colgate at Colonial Relays
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE WILLIAMSBURG, VA. – Fourteen Raiders traveled to the College of William & Mary to compete in the 41st Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Virginia. Twenty-four Division I teams competed, which made for a very competitive meet. The Colgate men took good advantage of the competition with six athletes achieving personal-bests while two others achieved seasonal best times. Xavier de Boissezon (Switzerland) added his name to the Colgate record book in the 5,000-meter run, clocking 15:09.55 and earning a seventh place finish. Waldemar Auguscinski (Passaic, N.J.) achieved a personal-best in the shot put 49’4.5” and in the hammer with a throw of 145’2”. Freshman Andrew Bloom (Westport, Conn.) also threw a personal-best 154’ in the javelin, just missing the Colgate top ten list. Running personal-bests in the 400-meter hurdles were senior TJ Smith (Syracuse, N.Y.) and first-year Alex Fuller-Young (Pheonixville, Pa.), who finished with times of 57.28 and 58.22, respectively. Both just missed making the top ten list. In the 800-meter run, Rob VanDine (Binghamton, N.Y.) ran a personal-best with a time of 1:56.36. Senior Tyrone Russell (Ithaca, N.Y.) produced a seasonal outdoor best with a fifth place finish in the 400-meter run with a time of 48.27 and now leads the Patriot League in both the 400- and 200-meter runs. He finished 4th in the 200 with an outdoor seasonal best of 21.88. The men will next compete at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland next Saturday, April 12. The meet starts at 11:00 AM, with field and running events starting at 12:00.
