Completes Day One at Florida State Relays
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TALLAHASSEE, Fla.– The Colgate men’s track and field team began the outdoor season by completed the first day of competition at the Florida State Relays with several strong performance. Junior Louis Di Nuzzo (Loudonville, N.Y.) won the 5,000-meter run in an outdoor personal-best time of 14:43.71 and moves into third on Colgate’s top-ten record board. Freshman Sean Curran (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) also finished the event with a career-best time of 15:38.34. Senior Eric Hiller (Elizabethtown, Pa.) won the heat of the 200-meter dash before placing eighth in the finals in a season-best time of 22.28. Thirty-five minutes later, Hiller won the heat of the 400-meter dash and finished second overall with a time of 48.87. The Raider’s 4x800 relay team of Rob Van Dine (Binghamton, N.Y.), Kyle Barrett (Troy, N.Y.), Ian Hill (West Hartford, Conn.) and Kevin Meehan (Bay Shore, N.Y.) placed fourth overall with a time of 7:55.24. Barrett took fourth place in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.18 while freshman Luke Merkel (Arlington, Va.) ran the event in a personal-best 2:00.35. Meehan placed sixth in the 1,500-meter run with a personal-best time of 3:57.36, missing Colgate’s top-ten record board by a mere .38 seconds. The Florida State
Relays continue today.
