RAIDERS COMPETE AT CORNELL BIG RED INVITATIONAL

ITHACA, N.Y. – The men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at Cornell Sunday in the Big Red Invitational.  Other school participating were Ithaca, Rochester, Binghamton, Misericordia, Mansfield and Canisius.

On the men’s side, Ithaca native Tyrone Russell took first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.9.  Shawn Lingley (Sudbury, Mass.) placed second in the 400 with a time of 50.15.  The Raider 4x100 relay took first in 43.30.  TJ Smith (Syracuse, N.Y.) was third in the long jump with a 20’ 11 ¾” jump.

For the women, freshman Julie Stephenson (Hyannis, Mass.) won the 100 high hurdles in 15.6.  The closest competitor finished in 17.1, 1.5 seconds behind Stephenson.  Stephenson also competed in the triple jump, placing fourth with a 35’ 1” jump.  Kesha Caldwell (Oak Park, Pa.) took fourth in the high jump with 5’ 1”.  Anna Shaver (Santa Rosa, Calif.) and Laura Kenny (Horsham, Pa.) both competed in the 1500 placing fifth and seventh with times of 5:26.21 and 5:44.05, respectively.

Both Raider squads will travel to Lehigh next weekend for the Patriot League Championships.
