MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD TEAM COMPETES AT LONG
BEACH STATE Mar. 18, 2001 LONG BEACH STATE, CALIF. - The Colgate men's track and field team competed at the Long Beach State Invitational this past weekend, posting several personal bests and marks on the Colgate record board. Junior Tyrone Russell (Ithaca, N.Y.) won the 200 meter dash with a personal best time of 21.60. His time puts him seventh on Colgate's all-time record board as well as qualifying Russell for IC4As. Sophomore Louie DiNuzzo (Loudonville, N.Y.) ran another personal best for the Raiders in the 5000. DiNuzzo ran a 14:59.47, making him fifth on the Colgate record board. The Colgate 4 x100 team of Eric Hiller (Elizabethtown, Pa.), Russell, Barry Jones (Ontario, Can.) and Kyle Chandler (Detroit, Mich.) ran a 42.69, qualifying them for IC4As as well as putting themselves 10th on the Colgate record board. Hiller ran his best time of the year in the 400 with a seventh place finish with a time of 48.97. Greg Smith (LaGrande, Il.) put up another best of the season with his seventh place performance in the 800. Smith finished with a time of 1:58.25. Mike Martocci (Mahwah, N.J.) took ninth in the 800 in 1:58.25. Freshman Robert VanDine (Binghamton, N.Y.) ran a personal best in the 1500 with a time of 3:59.60. TJ Smith (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Jones both ran in the 200, finishing 20th and 22nd respectively with times of 23.20 and 23.46. The Raiders travel to UC Irvine to race on March 23. |
