season.Junior Year (2004-05):
Injuries limited the first half of Heims’s junior campaign to
only two matches .. he went 0-2 at the Volkl invitational,
losing a tough three-setter to Michael Good of Army, before
injuring his hamstring and being forced to sit out the rest of
the fall.
Sophomore Year (2003-04):
Posted a 5-18 singles record for the year, playing most of
his matches at No. 3 but also seeing some action at No. 2 singles as
well ... defeated league rival Sebastian Salas of Army in three
sets at the Northeast Invitational ... scored a
Patriot League victory over Asher Salam of Bucknell in straight
sets, and had an impressive win over Brian O’Connor of
Binghamton
...
had a 13-11 record in doubles, playing mostly
No. 3 doubles with Marshall Wheeler .. the duo closed out the fall with a
5-1 record and two victories over teams from Army ... they also
had big wins in the spring Colahan and Pytko of Boston College,
Menezes and Salam of Bucknell, and Lai and Lee of Navy ... Heims
and Wheeler competed in the Patriot League semifinals, falling
to the of Kyle Roybal and Carl Fisher.
Freshman Year (2002-03):
Posted an
11-11 record in his freshman campaign, playing mostly No. 3 singles but
also seeing action at No. 2 singles and one match at No. 4 singles ...
in his
first collegiate match, Heims fought off match points to defeat Tal
Meir of Stony Brook, the former Israeli national junior champion ... two
of Heims’s wins clinched 4-3 victories .. at ECAC's Heims defeated
Navy’s No. 2 Ryan Osgood in straight sets to seal the win ... in the
spring, Heims found himself in a third set against Dartmouth’s Raj
Shrestha at No. 3 singles with the overall match tied 3-3, Heims was
able to serve out the match for the win ... other
impressive wins for Heims were over Vili Nurmi of St. Bonaventure and
Paul Colahan of Boston College ... an arm injury limited Heims’s
playing time and effectiveness late in the spring ... Heims also posted
a 7-9 record in doubles playing with a variety of partners, and made
the Patriot League Flighted Championship at No. 2 doubles with Zander
Lowe, defeating Army’s Sabia and Srivastava along the way.
High School:
Finished an outstanding high school
career at Brophy College Prep with a 72-2 record, winning the Arizona
state championship his freshman year and then captaining the team to
three more state championships after that ... was the state champion in
doubles his sophomore year and the state runner-up in singles his
senior year ... was named all-Arizona his sophomore, junior and senior
years, and was an All-American his senior year ... had an
outstanding junior tennis career, marked by a high ranking of 140th
nationally in the 18&U division. Also was ranked 27th nationally in
doubles with Randall Smalley.
