Junior Year (2005):
Went 2-4 in singles and 4-3 in doubles during the fall season ..
defeated Scott Blumenkraz (Brown) in three sets in his first
match of the season at the Brown Invitational ... won a match
against Balasz Szikla (Fairfield), 7-6 and 6-0 at the Cornell
Invitational in October ... went 2-1 in doubles with Matthew
McCormick at the Brown Invitational defeating teams from Boston
College and Boston University ... defeated a duo from Lehigh
along with partner Tyler Deck at the Cornell Invitational in
September ... defeated another group from Boston University with
Mickey Gallagher at the Cornell Invitational in October.
Sophomore Year (2004-05):
Wheeler
completed a tough singles schedule that saw him travel all over
the Northeast with an overall record of 4-5 ... all
four of Wheeler’s victories were in three sets ... he battled from
a set down to beat two opponents at the Volkl Shootout: Army’s
Dave Collins and Dartmouth's No. 2 Steven McGaughey ... Wheeler saved
match points in two consecutive matches: after doing so against McGaughey, he battled back against Maryland’s Josh Brauser in an
epic 3 ½ hour match to win 7-6, 2-6, 7-6 ... he then outfought
longtime rival Mark Santucci of Marist in another close three
setter ... Wheeler represented Colgate at both the ITA
All-Americans and the Region I Championships, losing in the
first round of qualifying in both events ... Wheeler also paired
with Pete Oman to post a 3-4 doubles record, capturing wins over
two different teams that reached the Round of 32 at the regional
championships (Buffalo’s Rockman/Liederman and Niagara’s
McConkey/Garcia) ... the team also fought off match points to
defeat Eddie Kang and Sebastian Salas of Army.
Freshman Year (2003-04):
Wheeler
finished an impressive first season with the Raiders with an 11-18
record, competing at No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 singles ... he began with solid fall
season victories over big-serving lefty Randy “Rusedski” Rocchio of
Buffalo and Randall Smalley of Lehigh ... Wheeler recorded his biggest
win of the year at the Patriot League Individual Tournament, where he
downed three-time first-time all-Patriot League performer Tushar Garg
of American in straight sets ... in the spring season, Wheeler recorded
a 4-2 record over Patriot League opponents, including a stirring
straight sets defeat of American’s Juancarlo Vazquez ... Wheeler also
posted a 17-15 record in doubles, competing mostly with Jake Heims at
No. 3 doubles ... his notable doubles victories were over Collins and Chuntraruk of Army, Lai and Lee of Navy, and Colahan and Pytko of
Boston College ... with Hagmann, Wheeler also scored doubles victories
of Lieu and Plukas of Princeton and Deming and Fawcett of Rutgers.
High School:
He finished his high school career
with a 63-7 record, playing all four years at No. 1 singles ... played his
freshman year at Darien High School and his last three years at Green
Farms Academy ... was a captain his senior year along with Colgate
teammate Chris Innes ... was a member of the 2001 and 2003 New England
Prep School Championship team ... he was the 2002 Fairchester Athletic Association singles champion, and the 2003 New
England Prep School singles champion ... he achieved a high ranking of
135th nationally in the 16&U in USTA, and was ranked 268th his first
year of 18&U ... he is currently ranked 5th in New England by the USTA

also ranked 30th nationally in doubles with partner Scott Denenberg.
