COLGATE DEFEATS BINGHAMTON IN SPRING SEMESTER OPENER

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Colgate men's tennis team came home with a victory on Super Bowl Sunday, defeating the Bearcats of Binghamton by a score of 5-2. 

Helping the team's cause were singles victories by Eric Saccullo, Jake Heims, and Evan Ambrose.  In the No.2 singles match, Saccullo won in straight sets over Brad Davidoff, 6-4, 6-2.  Colgate No. 3 Heims followed with a 6-4, 6-4 decision over Brad Sherwood.  Ambrose's No. 4 singles match finished 6-4, 6-1, Steve Spencer suffering the defeat for the Bearcats.

Colgate also captured the top two doubles matches.  In the No.1 match, Reed Hagmann  and Heims teamed up to defeat Sherwood and Akshay Rao, 8-6.  Ambrose and Jon Bedard scored a victory over Davidoff and Brian O'Connor in the No.2 contest, also winning 8-6.
