RAIDERS WIN SECOND MATCH IN AS MANY DAYS, DOWNING UMBC

MANLIUS, NY – The Colgate men's tennis team followed up on Friday's 6-1 victory over Bloomsburg with a 5-2 win over the UMBC Retrievers.  Jake Heims was once again a catalyst for the Raiders, winning his No.3 singles match against Djon Gusmao 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-3 and pairing up with Evan Ambrose to win their No. 2 doubles match 8-3.  Ambrose also won his No.4 singles match, easing past Gusmao 6-1, 6-1.

Jon Bedard also won  his singles match.  He beat Tom Joyce in No.5 singles, 6-1, 6-4.

Also winning his singles match was Blake Willmarth, an easy 6-1, 6-0 victor in No.6 singles, beating Noah Himberger.  In doubles, Reed Haggmann and Eric Saccullo won their No.1 match 9-7 over Josef Noyotny and Luis Baraldi.

With the win the Raiders improved their record to 3-1 on the season.

Up next for the Colgate men in St. Bonaventure, who will visit Hamilton on Saturday, February 15th.  The matches are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
