Hagmann Leads Men's Tennis at ITA Eastern Regionals.

Princeton, N.J. - Freshman netman Reed Hagmann (Short Hills, N.Y. /Millburn) led the Raider men's tennis team with two victories, including a victory over the  # 5 ranked player in the East, at the Omni Hotels ITA Eastern Regionals at Princeton University, Friday through Monday, October 26-29.  

Hagmann, who received a bye into the second round, defeated Penn State's Roddy Cantey in a hard-fought three set match, 7-6 (6), 3-6, 6-3.  Cantey had defeated Navy's Cameron Lickle 6-4, 6-2 to earn a berth into the second round. 

Hagmann gained his second victory of the tournament when he handidly defeated the # 5 seed in the region, Brown's Jaime Cerretani in two sets, 6-3, 6-3.  Hagmann's run ended, however, when he faced the # 3 seed in the tournament, Oliver Choo of Harvard.  Hagmann and Choo battled to a 7-5, 6-4 decision in the favor of Choo.  

Colgate's Eric Saccullo (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) also represented the Raider men's tennis program.  Saccullo was edged in his first match of the tournament by Boston College's Brad Anderson 6-4, 3-6, 7-5. Saccullo then went on to win five consecutive back draw singles matches to capture the consolation tournament. 

In the first round he downed Niagara's Tom Rees 6-0, 6-0, and in the second round he edged Alex Poschelides from West Virginia University in a 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) super-breaker thriller. In the quarterfinal, Saccullo bested Marist's Mike Sowter 6-4, 6-2, and in the semifinal he beat Georgetown's Marc Lohser 6-0, 6-3. In the final, Saccullo ousted Penn State's Todd Stecko 6-3, 6-4.

In doubles action, Hagmann and Saccullo teamed up to reach the second round of the tournament, easily defeating Binghamton's Brad Davidoff and Randall Shu 8-3 before bowing to the # 4 seed duo of Aksahy Jagdale and Greg Schweitzer of Rutgers, 9-8 (5).
