HAMILTON, N.Y. - Colgate freshman Reed Hagmann (Short Hills, N.Y./Millburn) has been named the inaugural Patriot League Rookie of the Year in men's tennis in a vote by league coaches.  Hagmann also earned Patriot League singles honors as well as an all-league selection with sophomore Eric Saccullo (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset).

Hagmann led the Raiders at the first singles spot and finished the 2001-02 season with a 19-10 overall record (9-8 in number one singles) including a 4-2 mark against Patriot League opponents for the Raiders, who finished with an 11-8 overall record and a 4-1 mark in Patriot League action and advanced to the championship round of the Patriot League tournament.

Hagmann, who was named the team's Most Valuable Player, captured an individual title at the Patriot League Men's Flighted Championship winning the second singles title defeating Army's top-seeded Kent Ball in two sets, 6-1, 6-3, in October.

Hagmann also lifted the Raiders into the Patriot League Championship match defeating Navy's Cameron Lickle in first singles, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4, in the deciding match in Colgate's 4-3 victory over the Midshipmen.

Saccullo, who competed at the second and third singles spots for the Raiders, earned all-League honors as Hagmann's partner in first doubles.  The tandem combined to finish with a 5-5 overall mark and a 4-1 mark in Patriot League action, including wins over Navy's Ryan Osgood and Davy Lee and Cam Lickle, Lafayette's Matt Coin and H'Cone Thompson and Lehigh's Ty Esler and Ryan Cann.
