Raiders Advance To Patriot League Men's Tennis
Championship Defeating Navy 4-3
Washington, D.C. - The Colgate University men's tennis team advanced to the finals of the Patriot League Tournament defeating four-time Patriot League champions Navy 4-3 at Reeves Courts on the campus of American University in Washington, D.C., Saturday. The Raiders took home the doubles points with victories by Eric Saccullo and Reed Hagmann in first pairs (over Camron Lickle and Ryan Osgood, 8-6) and Alexander Lowe and John Bedard over Davy Lee and Phil Voulgaris, 8-2, in second doubles. Navy won third doubles when Chris McGrath and Todd Thurston defeated Evan Paushter and J.P. Johnston (9-8). Hagmann lifted the Raiders into the Championship match with a 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 victory over Lickle in first singles, which was the deciding match. Saccullo defeated Osgood in second singles, 6-1, 7-5, while Lowe claimed the victory over Joe Weisberger in sixth singles (6-1, 7-6). The Raiders, who will be looking for their first-ever Patriot League title, will face league newcomer and top-seeded American University Sunday at 10 a.m. American defeated defending Patriot League champion, Army, 4-0 to advance to their first-ever Patriot League tennis championship.
