The Raiders began the day winning all three doubles matches on the heels of strong performances by the duo of freshman Reed Hagmann and sophomore Eric Saccullo and the second year tandem of Jon Bedard and Zander Lowe.   

With the Raiders leading 3-1, victory seemed imminent until Navy launched a comeback.  First, JP Johnson dropped his last two sets to fall to a feisty Chris McGrath.  Soon after, Navy's Todd Thurston won the third set of a tight match against the Raider's Evan Ambrose.  At that moment, the stage was set for a classic performance from Lowe.  

Twice before in the spring Lowe has been called upon to win a key match for the Raiders.  Both times, he has answered that call, propelling the team to victories.  Down one set, Lowe began out-hustling and overpowering opponent Phil Vougaris.  By the start of the third set, Voulgaris was noticeably slower while Lowe, whose serve was outright crushing, was crisp.  

Sanford Field house was full of cheers as Lowe served and won his third set 6-2.  Many on the team believe that this win was their best of the season.  It truly illustrates the progress of this squad, who was ousted from last year's Patriot League Tournament by Navy.  The team continues its season next Saturday at Bucknell at 1:00pm.
