COLGATE MEN FINISH FIFTH AT PATRIOT

Results LEWISBURG, PA - The Colgate men's swimming team took home fifth place this weekend at the Patriot League championships with 365 points. Host Bucknell took first with 701, followed by Lehigh with 632.50, American third with 580.50, Army in fourth with 564, Lafayette was sixth with 342 and Holy Cross was seventh with 183. Colgate earned one first place on the day courtesy of Rich Derrick in the 1650 yard freestyle. He won with a time of 16:02.96, a new pool record. Lane Ellis took second in the one-meter dive with a score of 278.76. Brett Nichols finished 11th in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:55.10. Senior James Hadley garnered a fourth place finish in the 100 yard freestyle in 46.33 Matt Vuturo finished ninth in the 200 yard breastroke with a time of 2:08.18. Hadley, Vuturo, Nichols and James Marione teamed for a sixth place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:11.39. The men's season is now complete.
