Coach Roberts' on the men's meet:

The team swam well against Lehigh. Unfortunately for us, Lehigh has the strength and the numbers on their men's team for us to compete with them at this point. Timewise, James Hadley was our performer of the meet in winning the 50 and 100 freestyle events including a season best time of 47.50 in the 100. Additionally, Matt Vuturo swam a 56 low in the Breastroke leg of the relay which is a very solid swim for Matt.  After the first semester of competition, I am very pleased with the performance of the men's team. For a team of 11 swimmers and 3 divers to be 5 & 3 at the midway point demonstrates the determination of this team. More importantly, they are swimming way ahead of their potential.

Coach Roberts' comments from the women's meet:

We gave the reigning champions a run. It was a great meet with each team going back and forth in each event. I was extremely proud of the effort put forth by our women and certainly tip my hat to Lehigh for being able to pull out the victory in the last relay. Hilary Placzek ('02) won a key race for us in the 200 backstroke with a season best time of 2:12.37. That win along with Elizabeth Gaffuri's win in the 100 and the outstanding performances of our divers kept Colgate in the meet at a critical point. With two events to go, Alice Garnett ('04) won the 200 Breastroke in one of the closest, most meaningful races I have ever witnessed with a season best time of 2:29.33 (to Lehigh's 2:29.39.) Though all of our women in the 400 Free Relay put up near or best times for their 100, our relay came up just a little short in the end. Again, this team continues to swim well and show that we are ready to contend with the best in our league
