RED RAIDER WOMEN AND MEN REGISTER VICTORIES
IN FIRST MEET OF THE SEASON AGAINST HOLY CROSS

Worcester, Mass. - The Colgate University women's and men's swimming/diving team posted their first victories of the season against Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Raider women defeated Holy Cross 134-109 and Elizabeth Gaffuri set Holy Cross' new 100 Free pool record with a 53.20. 

" Winning the 400 medley relay set the tone for the meet," Colgate head coach Bill Roberts said. " It was an exciting win which propelled the team through the remainder of the meet."

"That was something special. We knew she would have a shot at setting a new pool record in the 100 freestyle after seeing her split from the relay," Roberts on Elizabeth's pool record. "Elizabeth did all of the technical things right...in the end the time was there."

The men's team downed the Crusaders 131-112 behind a strong effort from the divers.

"Holy Cross is a much better team this year. Our guys had to step up and swim well in order to win this meet," Colgate head coach Bill Roberts said. "We had several freshmen, swimming in their first collegiate competition, show that they want to do well this season.

"Our divers provided valuable points. Once again, Colgate divers came through"
