WEST POINT, NY  - The Colgate men's soccer team earned a very important win to keep its slim Patriot League playoff hopes alive on Friday with a 1-0 win over Army.

Jon Cook (Oneonta, NY/Laurens Central) scored the game-winner, his sixth of the season to lead Colgate.  The goal came at the 38:13 mark of the first half.  Brian McDermott (Willingboro, NJ/Moorestown) garnered the assist.

Colgate played a stellar defensive game to keep Army from scoring any goals.  Marc Hubbard (Durham, NH/Oyster River) played through an injury and stopped all the attacks that the Black Knights came at him with.

Will Martin (Excelsior, MN/Breck) made six saves in recording his 5th shutout of the season.

Colgate now 8-6-3 on the season and 2-3 in the Patriot League takes on American on Saturday, November 9 at 7 p.m. on Van Doren Field.  If Colgate wins the rest of its Patriot League games it will qualify for a Patriot League playoff berth.
