HAMILTON, N.Y.  - The Colgate's men soccer team had a battle on its hands Saturday night and played to a 1-1 double overtime tie against the Dukes of Duquesne at Van Doren Field.

Colgate struck early to gain the 1-0 advantage.  Just two minutes into the contest Matt Davis (Canterbury, CT/Norwich Free) picked up a rebound and slotted it in the back of the net to put the Raiders up.  Sean O' Sullivan (Brooksville, FL/Central) was credited with the assist on the play.

But Colgate would not see too many opportunities the rest of the way and Duquesne tied the score 1-1 with just a minute to play in the first half as Steve Freund scored the goal off a scramble.

The Raiders best chance came in the first overtime when Mark Hubbard was turned away on penalty kick by Duquesne keeper Terry McNelis.

Shots were even at 11, and Colgate outcornered Duquesne 13-5 on the match.

McNelis made five stops in net for the Dukes, and Will Martin (Excelsior, MN/Breck) turned aside four shots for Colgate.

Colgate, now 2-1-2, faces Bucknell at Lewisburg, Pa, Saturday at 4 p.m.
