Berhane scored twice and added an assist as the University of Central
Florida mens soccer team defeated Colgate University, 4-0, in the UCF
Soccer Classic at the UCF Arena Soccer Field Sunday afternoon. With the
win, the Golden Knights won the tournament that also included Stetson
University and Birmingham-Southern College.
Colgate closed out the tournament with a 1-1 record posting a 3-0
win over Stetson in their first game of the tournament. UCF took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute
when Berhane scored on a pass from midfielder Zegai Habtom. Chris Beaulac
scored his first goal of the year on a distinct shot in the lower left
corner from 10 yards out in the 32nd minute after accepting a pass from
Berhane. Berhane scored his second goal on a
penalty kick in the 68th minute, and freshman Jaime Planells added an
insurance goal 12 minutes later off assists from Xavier Delgado and Steve
Miller. The Golden Knights outshot the Raiders
11-3. UCF goalkeeper Juuso
Heikurainen picked up a save in his first shutout of the year. Jonathan
Brunell recorded four saves before being replaced in the 68th minute by
Will Martin who had one save for the Raiders. Colgate will return to action
Wednesday, September 5 when they travel to play Syracuse University at
7:00 p.m. UCF
