Hamilton, N.Y. - Jme Amoako and Antonio DiMuccio scored a goal apiece to lead Oneonta College past Colgate 2-1 in a non-conference match-up Wednesday at Van Doren Field. Oneonta improves to 8-7-1 while Colgate stands at 4-10.
Amoako gave the Red Dragons an early 1-0 lead in the 13th minute of play with a break-away goal after wrangling in a failed Colgate clear. Amoako drew out Colgate keeper Jon Brunell, beating him to the right, and then slotted home a far-post shot.
The Red Dragons took a 2-0 lead late in the first half when DiMuccio powered in a far-post goal deflecting the ball off of the hands of a diving Brunell following a Apia Awa pass in the 40th minute.
Colgate closed the gap to 2-1 in the 57th minute when freshman forward Jonathan Cook (Oneonta, N.Y./Laurens Central) netted his third goal of the season. Cook pushed the ball past Oneonta keeper Jack Potter after Peter Bourquin (Avon, Conn./Avon) slid a pinpoint pass across the box to find Cook. Bourquin, a freshman, now has four assists on the season. He is tied as the team's leader in assists with senior co-captain Tim Gerges (Simsbury, Conn./Westminster).
Colgate's Jon Brunell (Holden, Mass./St. John's) made five saves on 22 shots while Oneonta's Jack Potter stopped three of 11 Raider attempts.
The Raiders will return to action Saturday, October 27 at 3:30 p.m. when they travel to Easton, Pa. for a Patriot League matchup against Lafayette.
