Men's Soccer Closes Season with a 3-0

Vestal, N.Y. - Sophomore Zach Stuppy (York, Maine/York) netted two goals and freshman Jonathon Cook (Oneonta, N.Y./Laurens Central) added one to lead Colgate to a 3-0 shutout win over Binghamton University to close-out the 2001 season, Wednesday at Binghamton.
Stuppy put the Raiders on the board early when he headed home a pass from senior Tim Gerges in the 15th minute. Cook followed ten minutes later, scoring his fifth goal of the season, when he finished a pass from defender Andrew Rollins (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) in the 26th minute.
Stuppy netted his second goal of the game, and sixth of the season, in the second half, driving home Colgate's third goal of the game off of an assist from Cook in the 62nd minute.
Colgate out shot Binghamton 11-3 and held a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks. The Raiders' Will Martin made one save in 90 minutes of action to earn his fourth shutout of the season, while his Binghamton counterparts Gianni Di'Ciollo and Jon Locitzer combined to make two saves. |
