Hamilton, N.Y. - On a cool, clear night, the Colgate Raiders men's soccer team defeated the Black Knights of Army, 1-0, in a Patriot League match-up. With the win, Colgate remains unbeaten in its last three games.

Colgate (6-10-1 overall, 2-3-1 Patriot League) got on the board early when junior Marc Hubbard headed in senior co-captain Tim Gerges' cross in the second minute of play beating Army keeper Kevin Larrabee. The goal was Hubbard's fourth of the season, all of which have come on headers. Gerges was given an assist on the play.

The goal would be all the Raiders would need as Army (5-5-2 overall, 0-5-1 Patriot League) failed to muster few quality scoring chances.

Colgate had several opportunities including a disallowed goal due to an offside call. Freshman forward Jonathan Cook had the goal taken away from him after sophomore defender Kit Edwards made a nice touch pass to Cook right in front of Army's net.

Raider sophomore Zach Stuppy barely missed notching his fourth goal of the season when his shot hit the post of a wide open net. Larrabee was caught out of the net trying to make a play on Colgate's cross.

Cook and fellow forward Peter Bourquin almost connected on another one of Colgate's offensive opportunities when Cook tapped Bourquin's pass just wide of the left post.

Colgate's keeper Will Martin was solid in net recording his third shutout of the year. Martin made four saves while his Army counterpart Larrabee registered eight.

Army received three yellow cards in an unphysical game. The cards were issued to Chris DeFiori, David Yu, and Nickolaus Trotta.

The game was the final home game for Colgate's two senior co-captains Gerges and midfielder Colyer Curtis.

Colgate's last and final Patriot League game will be next Saturday, November 10 at American University at 2 p.m.
