Men’s Lacrosse Falls
to #18 Villanova, 10-3
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE HAMILTON, N.Y. – The
Colgate men’s lacrosse team fell to #18 Villanova, 10-3 on Sunday
afternoon in Hamilton,
N.Y. With the loss, the Raiders fall to 2-4
on the season while the Wildcats improve to 5-1. Junior Jeff Vander Muelen (Liverpool, N.Y.) put the Raiders on the board as he converted a pass from senior Nick Gerken (Wilton, Conn.) with 2:59 left in the second period. Following the intermission, Vander Meulen registered an unassisted goal at the 10:36 mark to make the score 5-2. The Raiders scored their final goal of the day with 6:41 remaining in the third period as Gerken beat Villanova’s goalie, Joseph Canuso on a pass from senior Peter Watts (Wayland, Mass.). The Wildcats scored the final five goals of the game, including the second goal on the day from Brian Marks, who also contributed seven assists for Villanova. Freshman goalie Andrew Jarolimek (Silverthorne, Colo.) and Canuso each registered 10 saves apiece. The Raiders are back in action on Saturday, March 28 when they travel to Lafayette to open Patriot League play against the Leopards on Metzgar Field in Easton, Pa.
