Men’s Lacrosse Falls
to Sacred Heart, 9-6

Game Statistics The Raiders got on the board first, taking a 2-0 lead off a goal by senior Peter Watts (Wayland, Mass.), assisted by sophomore Jason Vasas (Fairport, N.Y.) and a goal by senior Nick Gerken (Wilton, Conn.), assisted by senior Scott Herbst (Short Hills, N.J.). Sacred Heart scored five unanswered goals, including three by Erick Perez, to take the 5-2 advantage with 7:25 remaining in the third period. Colgate used a man-up opportunity as freshman Chris Devens (Sewickley, Pa.) fed junior Jeff Vander Muelen (Liverpool, N.Y.) to bring the score to 5-3 with 5:38 remaining in the third. The Pioneers closed out the quarter with three goals to take an 8-3 lead. The fourth period started with an unassisted goal by Vasas at the 13:05 mark but Perez answered with an unassisted goal to give Sacred Heart the 9-4 lead. Colgate ended the fourth period with goals by Gerken and Vander Meulen but fell short of the win, 9-6. Both goalies put in solid performances as Pioneer Thomas Hind collected 16 saves and Raider freshman Andrew Jarolimek (Silverthorne, Colo.) stopped 14 shots. The Raiders are back in action on Tuesday, March 18 when they face Vermont in Deerfield Beach, Fla.
