PARKER AND WALBY EARN ALL-LEAGUE HONORS May 8, 2002 CENTER VALLEY, Pa.- Senior defender Greg Walby (Madison, Conn.) and junior midfielder Joe Parker (Crofton, Md.) of the Colgate men's lacrosse team were named to the all-Patriot League first team announced by the league office Wednesday. Walby earned the honor for the first time in his career by leading the Colgate defense that surrendered just 8.93 goals per outing. He led the team in groundballs with 36. Parker, a four-year football standout, picked up lacrosse and proved to be a welcome addition to the Raider squad. He led the team in goals (29), assists (19) and points (48). Parker was also one of Colgate's main face-off men, posting a .530 percentage in the circle. Parker also earned four PL weekly honors, picking up the Defensive and Rookie awards twice each. The 2002 Raider squad, under the direction of first-year head coach Jim Nagle, posted a 7-7 overall record and a 3-3 record in league play, its best record since 1998. They finished fourth in the league. |
