COLGATE TOPS CANISIUS, 19-5 IN HOME FINALE

Scoring Summary, Game Stats

HAMILTON, N.Y.- Junior Scott Herbst (Short Hills, N.J.) tallied seven goals and an assist to lead the Colgate University men's lacrosse team to a 19-5 victory over Canisius Friday night. 

The Golden Griffins opened the game with two quick goals to hold a 2-1 advantage but the Raiders took control of the game to outscore Canisius 18-3 in the remainder of play for the win.

Watts led all scorers but Ian Franke (Duxbury, Mass.), Nick Gerken (Wilton, Conn.) and Peter Watts (Wayland, Mass.) each had multiple goal games for Colgate.

Rick Neward and R.J. Ramgopal each tallied two goals for Canisius.

Chris Hettler (Liverpool, N.Y.) made seven stops in goal before being relieved by Kevin Kelly (Suffern, N.Y.), who tallied three saves.  The Griffs keeper David Pfleuger made 10 saves.

It was the home finale for the Raiders who honored seniors Franke, Greg Walby (Madison, Conn.), Greg Sattler (Chappaqua, N.Y.), Hettler and John Albright (Falls Church, Va.) in pre-game festivities.

Colgate ends its 2002 campaign by traveling to Harvard Tuesday, April 30.  The Raiders are 7-6 on the season.
