RAIDERS PICK UP FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON
WITH A 12-7 VICTORY OVER ST. JOE'S
March 9, 2002 PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- First-year head coach Jim Nagle picked up his first Colgate victory with Saturday's 12-7 win over St. Joe's at Finnesey Field. The Raiders improve to 1-2 while the Hawks fall to 0-4 on the season. Senior newcomer Joe Parker led Colgate with three goals and three assists while freshman Jason Vasas also added three goals. Junior Nick Gerken started the Raiders off with his goal in the first period, while the Colgate defense kept the Hawks scoreless. The Raiders exploded in the second and third period with a total of ten goals, holding SJU to only two. With the score set at 10-2 at the start of the final stanza, the Hawks gained some control with their five goals to Colgate's one but it would not be enough to overcome the Raiders. Goal scorers for Colgate were Gerken, Joe Parker, Ian Franke, Vasas, Matt Saxon, Eddie Brennan and Brad Benson. The Raiders return to Tyler's Field
