NEW CANAAN, Conn.- Dartmouth freshman Ben Grinnell scored four goals and recorded an assist as the Colgate men’s lacrosse team opened the season with an 11-4 loss to Dartmouth Saturday afternoon in New Canaan, Conn.

Playing 20 minutes from his hometown of Waccabuc, N.Y. Grinnel, who was making his collegiate debut, scored early and often as the Big Green netted four goals in the first ten minutes of the game. Senior Connor Price netted three goals and two assists, while sophomore Tom Daniels tallied a goal and three assists. Junior Casey Burlage added a goal and an assist, while juniors Scott Rosyln and David Faber tallied goals for the Big Green.

Senior Ian Franke, jnuiors Nick Gerken and Scott Herbst and freshman Jason Vasas each recorded one goal for Colgate while Pete Watts and Franke each tallied an assist.

Senior goalie Chris Hettler recorded 10 saves on the day.
