WINS SECOND HALF BATTLE WITH SEVEN-GOAL THIRD QUARTER AFTER
CLOSE FIRST HALF AGAINST THE RED RAIDERS

Hamilton, N.Y. - Tim Pearson (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.)
scored two goals and setup four goals and Mike Kamon (West
Chester, Pa.) recorded a hat-trick to lead Army past Colgate
University 13-5 in Patriot League Division I men's lacrosse
action Saturday afternoon.
Both teams battled closely in the first half knotted at 1-1
after the first quarter and Army held a slight 4-3 edge at the
half. Colgate (0-6, 0-1 Patriot League) dominated face-offs in
the first half winning 7-of-9 draws keeping them close to
Army.
However, the Black Knights (2-3, 2-2 PL) controlled face-offs
in the third winning 5-of-7 en route to a seven-goal quarter
to build a comfortable 11-3 lead.
Jeff Bryan (Niskayuna, N.Y.) started things off with Army's
first goal in the third from Pearson at 13:57. Chris Woods
scored the eventual game-winning goal at 13:02 with an
unassisted marker diving and shooting the ball in the lower
left corner of the net. Marko Kostovic (Seaford, N.Y.) and
Kamon added two goals apiece in the third and Colin Burke
(Rocky Point, N.Y.) scored once, while Jimmy Vlahakis
(Shoreham, N.Y.) set up Kostovic and Burke in the period and
Pearson also had two helpers.
Army continued its strong play finishing off a 9-0 run with
two goals in the fourth from Pearson and Kamon at 11:06 and
4:36, respectively. Colgate managed two late goals in the
final 42 seconds of play from Ryan Asher (Vestal, N.Y.) and
Danny Grady (Baldwinsville, N.Y.). The Black Knights outshot
Colgate 29-19 on the afternoon and were 2-for-3 on man-up
opportunities.
Dominik Nogic (Reston, Va.) played 54 minutes in the pipes for
Army recording 14 saves allowing three goals, while Scott
Alpaugh (Rochester, N.Y.) relieved him for the final six
minutes allowing two goals. Colgate's Chris Hettler
(Liverpool, N.Y.) played 45 minutes recording 12 saves and
allowing 11 goals, while Brendan Spellman (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.)
played the fourth allowing two goals and recording four saves.
Army resumes action hosting Air Force on Monday, March 26 at 7
p.m., while the Red Raiders travel to Lafayette on Saturday,
March 31 at 2 p.m.
