Dominates All-Patriot League
Men's lacrosse team
Breslin Offensive Player
of the Year, Gardiner Defensive Player of the
Year,
O'Hara Coach of the Year
Bethlehem, Pa. Patriot League
champion Hobart College placed eight players on
the all-Patriot League men's lacrosse team, and
received three of the four individual honors, in
a vote of the League's head coaches.
James Breslin (Jr., A, Mountain Lakes,
N.J./Mountain Lakes) was named the Offensive
Player of the Year, while Austen Gardiner (Sr.,
D, Timmonium, Md./Phillips Exeter) was named the
Defensive Player of the Year. Head Coach B.J.
O'Hara was named the Coach of the Year.
Breslin led the Patriot League in scoring
(4.83 pts/gm) and goals scored (3.33 g/gm) in
League games, and was tops in overall goals
scored (2.54 g/gm). He was second in overall
points scored (3.69 pts/gm). He was twice named
the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week.
Gardiner picked up 38 ground balls while
leading a defense that allowed the opposition
just 7.67 goals per game in League play.
Army's John Ryan (Fr., M. Clifton Park,
N.Y./Shenendehowa) was named the League's Rookie
of the Year. He appeared in 13 games for the
Cadets, including seven as a starter. Ryan scored
12 goals, including one extra man goal. He also
had two assists and picked up 17 ground balls.
O'Hara led the Statesmen to a 7-6 record
overall including 5-1 in League games. The
Statesmen won the championship in their first
year in the Patriot League. Seven of O'Hara's
players were named first team All-League.
Colgate University placed three players on the
All-Patriot League teams including junior middie Parker
Gibson (Newtown, Pa./Westminster School) on
the first team, while junior attackman Dan
Grady (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville) and
senior defenseman Nate Morse (Sante Fe,
N.M./Choate Rosemary) were second team
selections.
Gibson finished tied for second on the Red
Raider squad with 25 points (18-7-25) and ranks
among the NCAA's elite in face-off percentage
(109-for-173, .630). Grady led Colgate in scoring
with 32 points (18-14-32), while Morse had 19
ground balls in his senior campaign.
