NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The Dartmouth men's
lacrosse team opened the 2000 campaign on a
positive note, capturing a 10-7 win over the
Colgate Red Raiders (0-2) in a neutral site game
played in Connecticut.
Dartmouth saw seven players scoring goals in its
first game, three of which tallied twice.
Sophomore Ross Johnson and juniors Schuyler
Minert and Chris O'Hara each scored a pair.The
Big Green jumped out to a three-goal lead in the
first quarter before Colgate could beat Mike
Gault in the Dartmouth cage. Johnson opened the
scoring for the Green, followed by Minert and
Connor Price. The Red Raiders made it 3-1, but
Dartmouth would strike again before the quarter
was out.
By the half, Dartmouth had built an 8-2 bulge.
For the final two quarters, Dartmouth relied
on its freshman goaltender, as Gault made 10 big
saves in the half for a game total of 13. The
Green would score just two more goals, both
coming in the third. Junior Danny Grady led the
Red Raiders with three goals and an assist, while
Paul Abrahimzadeh made six saves in the loss,
three in each half.
