ASSISTANT COACH
ANDREW DICKSON
 |
Andrew Dickson, a former Raider hockey
player, is in his seventh season as an assistant men's ice hockey coach
at Colgate University. Dickson's primary responsibilities include
working with the forwards and playing a major role in the program's
recruiting efforts.
Since his return to Hamilton, Dickson has helped Colgate to two NCAA
tournament appearances, the 2004 ECAC Hockey League regular-season
title, and back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in school
history.
Dickson captained the 1992-93 Colgate team and led the Raiders in
scoring with 43 points. He was also a key member of the 1989-90 team
that won the ECAC regular-season and tournament championships, and
advanced to the NCAA championship game.
Dickson finished his Colgate career with 122 points, and ranks 26th on
the Raiders' all-time scoring list. He left Colgate as the school's
all-time leader in games played with 135, and is now tied for seventh in
that category.
Dickson played professional hockey from 1993 to 1999 in several leagues
throughout the world. He began his pro career with the Lee-Valley Lions
of the British Hockey League. In 17 games, he scored 75 points on 36
goals and 39 assists. Dickson finished the season with the Utica
Bulldogs of the Colonial Hockey League, where he scored 11 goals and
added 30 assists for 41 points in 39 games, and led the team in points
per contest.
The following year, Dickson skated with four different teams in the
U.S., including three in the East Coast Hockey League. He appeared in 11
games in the U.S., during which he recorded one goal and seven assists
for eight points.
Dickson joined Memmingen of the German League for the 1995-96 campaign.
That year, he led the league in goals and points, and paced the team in
powerplay goals, shorthanded goals and plus/minus. During the 1996-97
season, Dickson led the league in scoring and shorthanded goals. He
paced his team in goals, assists, points and plus/minus while leading
Memmingen to a second-place league finish.
Dickson also led Memmingen in goals, assists, points and plus/minus
during the 1997-98 campaign. He finished second in the league in
scoring, and helped his team claim the west division championship.
Dickson finished the season by playing seven games with the Saginaw
Lumber Kings of the United Hockey League.
In his final season as a professional player, Dickson played in the
English Premier League for the Division I Blackburn Hawks. He led the
English Cup in points with 112 during the 1998-99 season, and finished
third in the league in scoring. Dickson led Blackburn in goals, assists,
points and plus/minus.
Dickson graduated from Colgate in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in
economics. He is engaged to be married to Alison Walker, and the couple
resides in Hamilton. |
