ECAC LANDS SIX ON JOFA ALL-AMERICAN TEAMS

The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) announced the 1999-2000 Jofa University Division All-American Teams on Thursday at the NCAA Frozen Four in Providence, RI.

The Eastern College Athletic Conference was well represented on the 12-player East squad with five players earning All-East honors.

Colgate's Andy McDonald (Strathroy, Ont.), the ECAC Player of the Year, was named to the Jofa East First Team. Rensselaer had three players on the All-East squad, Joel Laing was a first team selection while teammates Brian Pothier and Brad Tapper were named to the second team. St. Lawrence's Justin Harney earned first team honors, while Brandon Dietrich was selected to the second team.

Colgate's Andy McDonald, who recently agreed to terms with the NHL's Anaheim Mighty Ducks, finished his collegiate career as a Hobey Baker Finalist as the Red Raiders advanced to the NCAA playoffs.

Harney, a senior blueliner and Saint captain, was recognized as the ECAC's Best Defensive Defenseman while St. Lawrence captured both the ECAC regular season and tournament titles and advanced to this weekend's NCAA Frozen Four.

Laing, ECAC/Heaton Goaltender of the Year and Hobey Baker Finalist, led the Engineers to the conference championship while maintaining the nations best save percentage (.947).

Tapper, the national leader in goals per game (.84), completed his junior season with 51 points (31 g, 20a) while becoming an ECAC 1st Team Selection.

Dietrich followed up his outstanding freshman season by being named to the ECAC 1st Team while providing some scoring punch as the Saints reached the Frozen Four.

Senior defenseman and ECAC All-Star Brian Pothier led the Engineers and placed second in the ECAC in defenseman scoring with 18 points (5g, 13a).
