MCDONALD SCORES TWO GOALS TO
LEAD COLGATE TO 4-2 WIN AGAINST YALE; RED RAIDERS
ADVANCE TO LAKE PLACID CLAIMING ECAC
QUARTERFINAL SERIES 2-0

Hobey Baker Memorial Award candidate Andy
McDonald scored the game-winning goal and added
an empty-net goal to give Colgate a 4-2 win
against Yale and claimed the ECAC Quarterfinal
series.
With the series win, Colgate
advances to the semifinals of the ECAC
Championships in Lake Placid Friday, Mar. 17 at 4
p.m. facing No. 3-seed Rensselaer. The Engineers
won their ECAC Quarterfinal series 2-0 after a
3-2 overtime victory in game two of the series
this evening. The preliminary game will pit No.
4-seed Cornell vs. No. 5-seed Clarkson on Mar. 16
at 7:30 and the winner will face No. 1-seed St.
Lawrence on Mar. 17 at 7 p.m.
Darryl Campbell recorded his 17th goal of the
season to give Colgate the 1-0 lead with a
power-play goal just 2:39 into the first period.
Chad MacDonald found Campbell in the slot and he
wripped it past Yale's Dan Lombard.
Cory Murphy put Colgate ahead 2-0 at 7:25 of
the second period when MacDonald chipped a pass
to Murphy in the high slot and he found the net
with his 10th marker of the year.
Jeff Brow cut the Colgate lead to 2-1 at 8:43
with his 11th goal of the season and third in the
last two games with a power-play goal. Adam Sauve
shot from the right point and Nick Deschenes
tipped the shot which Colgate's Shep Harder
saved, but Brow was on the doorstep hitting in
the rebound.
Yale's Cory Shea registered the equalizer at
1:43 in the third, stealing the puck from behind
the Colgate net and scored on the wraparound.
McDonald gave Colgate the lead once again at
12:51 when Ben Bryce hit a slapper from the left
point that Sean Nolan tipped on goal and then
McDonald scored on the rebound. Then at 19:11
McDonald scored the empty-net goal when Kevin
Johns won the face-off back to Murphy who hit it
off the boards and the puck went down the ice and
McDonald tapped it in.
Lombard played 59:04 with 20 saves, while
Harder went the distance and recorded 23 saves
for his 20th win of the season.
