WISCONSIN EDGES COLGATE 2-1 IN BANK ONE BADGER SHOWDOWN For Immediate Release December 29, 2002 MILWAUKEE— The Wisconsin men’s hockey team scored
two goals 27 seconds apart to take an early
2-0 lead that they would not relinquish as the
Badgers edged Colgate 2-1 Sunday night in the second game of the Bank
One Badger Showdown at the Bradley Center. The Badgers got on the board at
9:42 of the first period when Brian Fahey
fired a slapshot past Colgate goaltender Steve Silverthorn.
John Funk and Brad Winchester assisted on the goal.
Silverthorn finished with 26
saves while Bruckler stopped 25 shots. Northern Michigan topped the Crimson 3-2. The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead before the Crimson came back and tied it 2-2 at the end of the second period. Northern Michigan scored the game winner in the beginning of the third period to advance to the title game Monday night at 8:05 p.m. central with Wisconsin. |
