COLGATE TRAVELS TO MILWAUKEE THIS WEEKEND FOR BANK ONE BADGER SHOWDOWN
HAMILTON, N.Y.--The Colgate men's hockey team will
compete in its second tournament of the season this weekend when the
Raiders travel to Milwaukee, Wis. to compete in the Bank One Badger
Showdown at the Bradley Center. Harvard and Northern Michigan are also
participating in the tournament.
The Raiders face host Wisconsin in the second game on Sunday, Dec. 29 at 9:05 p.m. eastern while Havard and Northern Michigan face off at 6:05 p.m. eastern. On Monday, the winner of the Harvard/Northern Michigan game faces the winner of the Colgate/Wisconsin game at 9:05 p.m. The consolation game is slated for 6:05 p.m. Sunday's meeting with Wisconsin marks the just the second meeting with the Badgers. The last time these two teams met was in the NCAA Championship game on April 1, 1990 where the Badgers defeated the Raiders 7-3 to claim the title. Current assistant coach Andrew Dickson '93, was a freshman on the team. Northern Michigan and Colgate have also faced off once with Wildcats winning 4-1 on January 4, 1985 in the Phoenix Mutual Classic in Hartford, Conn. Harvard leads the all-time series with the Raiders by a 35-14-4 margin and has already defeated the Raiders this season, 7-1 in Hamilton on Saturday, November 23. The two teams have never met on neutral ice. Senior left wing Scooter Smith (Calgary, Alberta) leads the Raiders in scoring with 10 goals, including five on the power play, and six assists. Junior Kyle Doyle (Sarnia, Ont.) has seven goals and seven assists while senior P.J. Yedon (Toronto, Ont.) is the team's top assist man with nine helpers. Junior David Cann has a 2.58 goals against average to go along with a .906 save percentage and a 3-5 record in 11 games. |
