COLGATE HITS THE ROAD THIS WEEKEND FOR ECAC GAMES AT DARTMOUTH AND VERMONT - Dartmouth is 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the ECAC after dropping two road games last weekend to Harvard (5-2) and Brown (4-2). Against Harvard, Dartmouth took a 1-0 lead before Harvard scored three second period goals and added two in the third. The line of Hugh Jessiman, Mike Ouellette and Lee Stempniak combined for six points on the night. Stempniak and Jessiman scored both goals the following night in the 4-2 loss to Brown. Senior goaltender Nick Boucher got the start against Harvard as he made 28 saves while allowing four goals. Classmate Darren Gastrock started at Brown and made 24 saves while allowing three goals as well. Dartmouth is ranked second in the league on the power
play at 30 percent. The Big Green have scored nine power play goals with
Lee Stempniak notching three of them. - After scoring the highest amount of goals in the third period last season, the Raiders are now scoring most of their goals in the second period with 11 tallies. Nine goals have occurred in the first period and six have happened in the final stanza. - After picking up his first ECAC career win in the 4-3 win over Princeton, sophomore goaltender Steve Silverthorn lost his first ECAC game and also his first game at Starr Rink against Yale Saturday night. Silverthorn is now 3-1 at Starr Rink and 4-2-1 overall. - Sophomores Darryl McKinnon and Adam Mitchell each recorded three points against Dartmouth at Thompson Arena last season. McKinnon gave the Raiders a 3-2 lead on February 16 before the Big Green scored two straight for the win and added two assists in the playoffs. Mitchell recorded a goal and an assist in the first game of the playoffs. - After scoring just 20 power play goals last season, Colgate has already scored 11, including three each by senior Scooter Smith and sophomore Adam Mitchell. - Colgate returns home next weekend to host Brown and Harvard on Friday, Nov. 22 and Saturday, Nov. 23. Colgate leads the all-time series with the Bears by a 37-15-1 margin while Harvard leads the all-time series 34-14-4. |
