COLGATE DROPS A 6-2 DECISION AT DARTMOUTH HANOVER, N.H. -- Lee Stempniak had his first career five point night to lead Dartmouth to a 6-2 victory against Colgate in men's ECAC hockey action on Friday night at Thompson Arena. Stempniak scored his first career hat trick and added a pair of assists in the game and now leads the Big Green with 11 points in five games. Dartmouth (2-3-0, 1-2-0 ECAC) took an early 1-0 lead when Mike Ouellette wristed a shot past Raiders (4-5-1, 1-2-0) goaltender Steve Silverthorn just 16 seconds into play. Stempniak and Chris Snizek sandwiched goals around a Scooter Smith marker to give the Big Green a 3-1 first period lead. The goal was Snizek's first of the season. In the second, Sean Offers netted his first collegaite goal while Stempniak and Rob Brown traded goals midway through the period. Stempniak closed the scoring at the 14:31 mark of the third period banking a shot off the post and into the cage. Ouellette had four points in the game while Pete Summerfelt and Hugh Jessiman each chipped in two assists. In goal, Darren Gastrock made 32 saves for his first win of the season while Silverthorn stopped 13 shots in the first period before giving way to David Cann, who made 15 saves.
