COLGATE FALLS TO NO. 13 HARVARD, 7-0 Friday, Feb. 14, 2003 Contact: Kerry Van Malderghem (315) 228-7566 CAMBRIDGE, Mass.— Senior forward Dominic Moore recorded three goals and two assists to lead the Harvard men's hockey team to a 7-0 win over Colgate Friday night at the Bright Hockey Center. With the win, Harvard improves to 16-7-1 overall and 14-3 in the conference while Colgate drops to 11-15-3 overall and 6-9-2 in league play. The Crimson got off to a quick start with four first period goals, including two on the power play. The Crimson took a 1-0 lead at 3:34 on a goal by Tim Pettit. Dave McCulloch and Kenny Smith assisted on the goal. Tyler Kolarik’s power play goal at 8:54 gave the Crimson a 2-0 lead. Noah Welch and Dominic Moore assisted on the goal. Moore then scored one of his own at 15:59 with Harvard on the power play and Kenny Turano added one 19:28 on a rebound to surge ahead 4-0. In the second period, Moore
scored his second goal of the game at 9:46. Pettit and Brett Nowak
assisted on the power play goal. Sophomore goaltender Steve Silverthorn played 20 minutes and allowed four goals while making 11 saves. Junior David Cann came in relief and finished with 18 saves in 35:13 minutes of action while allowing three goals. Sophomore Scott Annan, a product of Marlboro, Mass., saw his first action of the season with just under five minutes of action and stopped one shot. |
