COLGATE HOSTS No. 4 CORNELL THURSDAY NIGHT

HAMILTON, N.Y.--The Colgate men's hockey team is back in action this week when the Raiders host fourth-ranked Cornell Thursday night at Starr Rink. The game will be webcast live through i2sports.com and fans can watch the broadcast online by accessing either www.colgatealumni.org or www.colgate.edu.

Cornell (16-3, 11-1 ECAC) leads the all-time series between the two teams by a 60-50-8 margin and is unbeaten in the last four games (3-0-1) against the Raiders.
The Big Red also leads the all-time series at Starr Rink by a 23-22-3 margin.

Colgate's last win against the Big Red came on March 18, 2000 in the consolation game of the ECAC Tournament in Lake Placid by a 4-0 score.
Colgate’s last win at home was on January 28, 2000 in a 4-0 win. The Raiders won all three meetings between the two schools that season and registered two 4-0 shutouts in the process.

Cornell (16-3, 11-1 ECAC) is coming off a weekend sweep of Clarkson (W, 3-0) and St. Lawrence (W, 5-2). Riding a six-game winning streak, Cornell has lost only one conference game this season at the hands of Dartmouth in a 5-2 loss in Hanover on Saturday, Nov. 16 and is currently in a tie for first place in the ECAC with Harvard.

Cornell’s other two losses this season has come at the hands of Maine (L, 3-2) and Ohio State (L, 1-0) on Saturday, Dec. 28 and Sunday, Dec. 29 in the Everblades College Classic in Estero, Fla. The Big Red was playing without their starting goaltender Dave LeNeveu, who was competing in the World Junior Championships for Team Canada.

Junior forward Ryan Vesce leads the team in scoring with 29 points on 12 goals and 17 assists. He also leads the team in game winning goals (3) and is second in power play goals (3). Senior forward Stephen Baby is second with 27 points on seven goals and 20 assists.

LeNeveu's 1.13 goals against average is ranked first in the country and his .942 save percentage is second behind Maine's Jim Howard.

Cornell's penalty kill is 72-79 for 91.1 percent, ranked second in the country.

Leading the way for the Raiders is senior Scooter Smith who continues to pace the team in scoring with a career-high 15 goals and seven assists for 22 points. He also has a team-high eight power play goals and one game-tying goal to his credit.

After accumulating three assists against St. Lawrence last weekend, junior Kyle Doyle has emerged as the Raiders' top assist man with 12 tallies.

Junior goaltender David Cann sports a 4-8-2 overall record and is 2-4-2 in ECAC play. He has a 2.73 goals against average and a .905 save percentage.

Colgate's power play checks in at 16.7 percent and its penalty kill is 82.5 percent.
