COLGATE OVER BROWN, 3-2 PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Junior P.J. Yedon scored two goals, including the game winner and freshman Adam Mitchell added two assists as the Colgate men’s hockey team skated to a 3-2 win over Brown Friday night at Meehan Auditorium. With the win, Colgate improves to 3-5-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the ECAC, while Brown falls to 2-2-0 overall and 2-2-0 in league play. Yedon scored the game winning goal at 2:07 of the third period when he rebounded a Tucker Veenis shot and put it past Brown goaltender Brian Ecklund to give the Raiders a 3-2 lead. Colgate evened the score 2-2 at 15:30 of the second period when Yedon netted his first goal of the season with the Raiders on the power play. The Bears went up 2-1 at 9:50 when junior Jason Wilson’s shot hit the top shelf. Freshmen Mike Meech and Les Haggett assisted on the goal. Brown evened the score 1-1 at 17:58 of the first period when sophomore Nick Ringstad put in a rebound stick-side past Colgate senior goaltender Jason Lefevre. Junior Chris Legg assisted on the goal. The Raiders opened the scoring at 4:09 of the first period 1-0 when freshman Dmitry Yashin scored a power play goal on assists from freshman Adam Mitchell and sophomore Paul Kelley. Colgate senior goaltender Jason Lefevre stopped 28 shots to earn his second consecutive victory. Ecklund finished with 16 saves in the loss. The Raiders will travel to Harvard Saturday night for a 7 p.m. match-up. |
