COLGATE UPENDS UNION, 2-1 Nov. 10, 2001 HAMILTON, N.Y.(AP) -- Defenseman Rob Brown ripped a slap shot at 16:59 in the third period to lead Colgate past conference opponent Union 2-1 Saturday night at Starr Rink. Brown's game winning goal came on a 4-3 advantage for the Raiders as Brown took a pass from Smith at the point and beat Snee over his right shoulder. The Raiders improve to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the ECAC while the Dutchmen slip to 3-3-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Scooter Smith recorded two points in the contest and was plus two on the night for Colgate. The two teams skated to a scoreless first period as Colgate netminder Jason Lefevre and Union goalie Brandon Snee each stopped 10 shots. Lefevre stopped 22 shots on the night, while Snee tallied 27. Smith got the Raiders on the board in the second period at 16:28 when he rebounded a Kyle Doyle shot and beat Snee glove-side. The Dutchmen evened the score 1-1 at 4:34 in the third period when Kris Goodjohn took a Nathan Gillies pass in front of the net and beat Lefevre on glove-side.
