COLGATE HOCKEY HOLDS ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET 

April 13, 2002

HAMILTON, N.Y.--The Colgate men's hockey team held its annual awards banquet Saturday night at the White Eagle Conference Center. 

The Raider senior class of defenseman Ben Bryce (Bluepoint, Ont.), goaltender Jason Lefevre (Rome, N.Y.), forward Etienne Morin (Levis, Quebec) and forward Bob Vandersluis (Chatham, Ont.) won the Terry Slater Trophy, awarded by the Silver Puck Club to the senior whose performance, leadership and dedication on and off the ice during his career had the greatest impact on Colgate hockey.

Bryce and sophomore Rob Brown (Brockville, Ont.) took home the Dan Coley "Barrell" Award as team's best defensemen. 

Bryce was also named the team's Best Defensive Player and Brown was the recipient of the Coaches Award. 

Morin won the Rob Ries Memorial Award given to the player who provided the most inspiration and leadership.

The recipient of the Steve Riggs Memorial Award for gentlemanly play and a high standard of ability was Vandersluis. 

Junior center P.J. Yedon (Toronto, Ont.) was honored as the team's Best Offensive Player as he finished with a team-leading 24 points on 11 goals and 13 assists. 

Freshman center Darryl McKinnon (Port Elgin, Ont.) won the Whit Williams Award as the team's most improved player. 

Colgate finished the season with a 13-19-2 overall mark and was 10-10-2 in league play. The Raiders were eliminated from the first round of the ECAC playoffs after falling to Dartmouth 5-4 in double overtime March 8 and losing 4-1 March 9.
