CANN,
DOYLE LEAD COLGATE PAST ST. LAWRENCE, 5-0 The last time the Raiders shut an opponent out was in the 2000 ECAC tournament against Cornell in the consolation game where the Raiders won 4-0. Colgate picks up two points, improving to 13-15-2 and 10-8-2 in the ECAC and clinches a spot in the ECAC tournament while the Saints fall to 9-19-2 overall and 7-11-2 in the conference. At 13:31 in the third, the Saints pulled goalie Mike McKenna and Colgate's Dave Thomas made them pay, recording his second goal of the night on an empty net goal, extending the Raiders lead to 5-0. The Raiders went ahead 4-0 at 6:12 in the third period after the referee allowed a Doyle goal that had bounced off the back of the St. Lawrence net, even though the goal judge did not turn on the light. Etienne Morin redirected a Doyle shot and beat the Saints' starting goaltender Kevin Ackley at 19:24 in the second period to push the Colgate lead to 3-0. Thomas scored his first goal of the game at 19:29 in the first period when he rebounded a Doyle wrist shot and beat Ackley on his stick-side to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead. P.J. Yedon's goal at 2:47 in the first is all Cann would need as he turned away 29 shots for the Raiders |
