MEN'S HOCKEY EDGES BROWN, 2-1

HAMILTON, N.Y.--Sophomore defenseman Rob Brown's two-point performance propelled Colgate over Brown 2-1 in an ECAC contest Friday night at Starr Rink. 

        Colgate picks up two points and improves to 8-13-1 overall and 6-6-1 in the ECAC while Brown falls to 8-10-2 overall and 4-7-2 in conference action. The win marked the eighth consecutive time the Raiders have defeated the Bears.

        At 17:43 in the first period, Brown rebounded his own shot and beat Brown goalie Yann Danis with a wrist shot over his glove side to push the Colgate lead to 2-0.

        Les Haggett pulled the Bears within a goal in at 16:41 in the second period when he took a pass from Josh Barker and beat Colgate goaltender David Cann five-hole.

        The Raiders got on the board first at 15:21 of the first period when Brown intercepted an attempt the clear the puck and ripped a slap shot from the point that deflected onto the stick of Kyle Doyle who knocked the puck to Etienne Morin.  Morin beat Danis stick-side to give Colgate the 1-0 lead.

        Cann stopped 17 shots for the Raiders, while Danis had 23 saves for Brown.
