COLGATES FALLS TO
DARTMOUTH IN RETURN TO ECAC ACTION
Hanover,
N.H. – The Dartmouth College men’s ice hockey team scored
three second period goals to record a 3-2 victory against
Colgate University in ECAC action Friday night.
First
Period Summary: Dartmouth
came out with a hard-hitting pressure game and didn’t allow
Colgate many chances to get into the Big Green’s zone.
Colgate goaltender Jason Lefevre came up big thwarting
16 shots on goal by the Big Green.
Second
Period Summary: Colgate scored its third goal in the last two
games under 30 seconds into the period with a goal by Bryan
Long sneaking it past goaltender Nick Boucher who was out of
position as a shot bounced off the boards to Long.
Following the Long goal, Dartmouth turned up their
pressure and captalized with a goal at the 3:18 mark of the
second. Then
scored back-to-back markers just a minute apart at 9:30 and
10:30 of the second respectively.
The goals chased Lefevre from the net who despite a
strong first period with 16 saves, allowed the three Big Green
goals with seven saves in the second.
Following the rush by Dartmouth, the Red Raiders
settled down defensively and David Cann relieved Lefevre
recording two saves, but nearly allowed the fourth goal of the
game with a shot by Gillings which trickled past Cann an
crossed the line after time expired.
Third
Period Summary: After
being pulled in the second period, Lefevre returned to the
pipes. Kyle Doyle rifled a shot from the left face-off circle from
Ben Bryce at 5:52 to cut the Dartmouth lead to 3-2.

Sturgis took shot saved by Dartmouth goaltender Nick Boucher
then #22 Smith hit the rebound wide and bounced off the boards
to #6 Long who took a shot to right side of net past Boucher
who was on the left post.

Martin from the middle of the ice just inside the blueline
which was saved by Colgate goaltender Jason Lefevre and #17
Herrington fed the puck to Martin.
