MEN'S ICE HOCKEY
PLAYERS GARNER LEAGUE HONORS
Lake Placid, N.Y. -- The Eastern College Athletic
Conference announced its 2001 Division I Men's Ice Hockey
All-Conference, All-Rookie and Award winners today at the
Championship banquet in Lake Placid, N.Y.
Colgate University had three players earn league honors with senior
forward Sean Nolan (Dorchester, Ont.) and senior defenseman Cory
Murphy (Kanata, Ont.) earning second team All-Conference accolades
and freshman Rob Brown (Brockville, Ont.) was named to the
All-Rookie team.
Nolan finished the year as the Red Raiders top point and goal scorer
(21-14-35) en route to finishing his career 42nd on Colgate's
all-time scoring list with 98 points (53-45-98). Nolan finished the
year with 14 multiple-point games and six multiple-goal games. He
was tied for first in the ECAC in goals (21) and had 10 power-play
markers on the year. In 1999-2000, Nolan led the NCAA with seven
game-winning goals.
Murphy finished the year with 29 points (7-22-29) and closed out his
career in 35th on Colgate's all-time scoring list (28-83-111) and
became just the 42nd player to record 100 points. It was the second
consecutive year that Murphy earned All-ECAC honors earning a first
team selection in 1999-2000. Murphy also finished as Colgate's
career games played leader playing in 138 games, missing just one in
his career.
Brown finished the year 14th in scoring among ECAC rookie scorers
with 11 points (1-10-11). The rookie defenseman played in all but
one of Colgate's 34 games.
Colgate which advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals in 1999-2000,
finished this season 11th in the Eastern College Athletic Conference
with an 8-13-1 league mark and a 10-20-4 overall record.
